GTA made me do it

There has been a lot of fit hitting the shan lately regarding the "Hot Coffee" mod in GTA: San Andreas. Personally, I think it is a load of dingo kidneys. You have a extremely violent game where you can beat people to death, run them over, shoot them, stab them, blow them up, burn them to a crisp, drown them, and more; and NOW people are getting upset because you can have sex with your girlfriends if you download a modification to the game?

People are getting way too excited and upset about this. If you don't want kids playing the game, then why can't parents be responsible for their own children and determine what they can and can't play instead of having the government do it for them? I enjoy the game, but I am also a grown man and can distinguish reality from video games.

Yes, GTA San Andreas is a game that is not meant for children. Parents, do your job and police what your kids do, instead of having the government do it for you. Don't ruin it for the rest of us because you are too lazy and can't be bothered to monitor what little Timmy is playing.

60th Aniversary...

Right now is the 60th anniversary of the Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A lot of people out there ask if these two bombings were necessary, and wonder if the United States was correct in making such a decision.

I watched a show on the History channel about it, and the people they interviewed that lived through that time all believed that it was necessary to end the war. (Admittedly, they didn't ask any Japanese people... go figure.) People that didn't live through that era seem to have a more mixed opinion on the matter. Younger generations are more likely to think that it wasn't necessary. This has really made me think, and wonder.

It has always been easier to criticize other peoples actions than to act, especially when you have the cushion of time to assist your perspective, and the comfort of not having the stress of being THERE to clutter your decision-making. I am not going to say whether I believe that dropping those bombs was the correct decision or not, frankly my opinion on the matter is completely irrelevant. It happened.

It seems to me to be better to mourn the fact that there was a war, that there were hundreds of thousands of victims, remember, and strive to avoid being forced to make the same decision, rather than debate pointlessly about whether the action was the right thing to do.

Back in (in)action!

OS: reinstalled.

Computer: Fixed.

Viruses: Gone.

Now, if I could only afford to get that new one and set this computer to other tasks... Probably only a month away, then I can start ordering the parts and assembling it! Dual processor, Athlon 64... yeah....

I should get a new desk, too. This current one is too small for me, and is so used that it is about to fall apart. They just don't make desks for tall people it seems. My knees don't fit under the desk like they should. Does the world have something against people that are above 6'4"?

The Downward Spiral

he couldn't believe how easy it was
he put the gun into his face
bang!

(so much blood for such a tiny little hole)

problems do have solutions you know
a lifetime of fucking things up fixed in

one

determined

flash

everything's blue
everything's blue in this world
the deepest shade of muchroom blue
all fuzzy
spilling out of my head

~The Downward Spiral, by Trent Reznor, A.K.A. Nine Inch Nails © 1994 Leaving Hope/TVT music

No, I am not suicidal. There is just something about that song that has always morbidly fascinated me, and I am not certain why. I remember spending hours listening to this song over and over again, picking it apart in my head. Elements of the song somehow struck a cord- the deepest shade of muchroom blue- sounds somehow very comfortable and familiar to me like a secret safe place you had as a child.

I am not certain why it struck a chord with me, it was just a little like that scab that you know you shouldn't pick at, but you pick at it anyway-

Knowing it feels good,
knowing it will never heal.

Shameless repetition...

I have decided to shamlessly rip off content from my rants at SK's Comic website and repost them here. I suspect that the main difference between here and there is that this site will have the more "complete story" with more unedited content. You will notice, for example, my previous post here on this website is also a rant on SK's site, with the exception of the fact that I don't mention the strip joint on his website. That is a fairly good example of the difference between the two postings. Anyway, you can now read the same crap in two places, but get the complete crap here.

I pretty much spent my "weekend" (which happens to be Thursday and Friday, I work Saturday through Wednesday) reading the latest Harry Potter book. I thouroughly enjoyed it; it is worthy of the previous books in the series.

Apparently the pope isn't too impressed, however. I honestly wonder if he has ever read any of the series, or if he is just condemning it without actually having personally read any of it? Personally, I think that they make great kids books, and have accomplished a lot towards getting kids to read. However, the Pope has a bigger audience than I do. Go figure.

You can read about it at CNN.com, or by googling Pope and Harry Potter.

Microsofts next operating system is going to be called Vista. You can also read about it at CNN, or by googling Windows Vista. They claim it will have more security, amung other features.

...Pardon me while I burst out laughing. The only time the word "Windows" and "Security" are mentioned in the same sentence is if the two are separated by the words "has no"

Perhaps I am being a little too snide.

Perhaps I should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Nah.

Warning!!!

I ended up getting a rather annoying virus today by accident from one of the other Shadowburn forumites. If you have me on your MSN messenger list, and you get a message from me that goes something like:

"This is sooooo cool"

and then sends a link, DON'T click on it. It is the virus. I have tried twice to contain and delete it, but have failed both times. I will be doing an Operating System reinstall tomorrow to get rid of it for good, but in the meantime, be warned.

I wasn't at my computer when I got the virus, otherwise I might have been better able to deal with it before it got on my computer. I am going to remain offline from MSN messenger until it is fixed, using an alternative in the meantime.

I will send out an all clear when I am sure it is gone.

In other news, despite the virus, I am in a hell of a lot better mood than I was in the last time I posted. The plans that I had for Thursday didn't work out like I wanted, but other things happened that made it a good day despite that. Lots of fun...

For the first time in my life, I went to a strip club Thursday night. It was actually a lot more fun than I expected. I got to sabotage Beeancha twice ( Biiancha is a friend of mine, in real life and on the shadowburn forum- you will never see me spell her name correctly, or the same way twice in a row...) during the evening, including getting her a private dance with her favorite dancer of the evening. Needless to say, Bia'han'ka has a new friend named "Brooke."

I bought her one private dance with Brooke. 5 Songs later, Bianka's grin emerged, with Beancha in tow. Apparently Brooke threw in a few free dances...

Heh, heh, heh... I am evil, and I love it.

Rantrific!

Shadowkiller, the Admin of the Shadowburn forum and maker of the BurntOut! comic has given me Rantability on his website. Goody! This promises to be interesting...

The website is at http://www.thetrio.net/wot/ drop by!

Dammit, why do I have to get into this at 3:30 (ish) in the morning? I should be in bed... I have to work in a couple of hours.

I guess I will try to keep this going a little better than I have and actually TALK about my life ( or something)

...eventually. :-P
